Founder and CEO

Over 35 years in human relations, communications and counseling gives the JAFA group a particularly strong understanding of workplace issues.

The Founder and CEO, James A. Farmer, Ph.D. is a well-known author and lecturer. Dr. Farmer received his BA in social work and speech and is MA in counseling from the University of Northern Iowa. Graduate work continued with a Master's degree in social work (MSW) from the University of Iowa. In 1986, he earned his Ph.D. from Ohio State University. Academic appointments include: The University of Northern Iowa, Ohio State University, Louisiana Sate University and the University of Texas at Arlington. Dr. Farmer has authored or co-authored four books and ten articles. His text books, Positive Influences (Charles C. Thomas, 1989) and High Risk Teenagers (Charles C. Thomas, 1990) are widely used.

In the business world, Dr. Farmer has been called upon to present seminars on motivational psychology, human relations, communications, and interpersonal skill development. He has been a consultant to Exxon, Dow Chemical Company, Texas Instruments, Education Service Centers, Blackmarr Associates and several human service agencies.

Dr. Farmer is a Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor and a Barksdale self-esteem analyst. He is also certified in dispute resolution, a Licensed Advanced Clinical Practitioner and a Board approved supervisor in the state of Texas.

Dr. Farmer lives in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and enjoys reading and traveling.
