Often, a company finds there are specific needs within their employee population. These can include everything from Drug and Alcohol Abuse to Self-Esteem and Low Motivation to Anger issues. Managers may need to work through issues affecting their performances within the company. The JAFA Group provides a range of counseling services for employees. Q. Is counseling important? A. People often attempt to escape, avoid or ignore their problems, but usually "the only way out" is through counseling. We view counseling as a positive approach to solving problems and increasing productivity in a company. Q. Who needs counseling? A. Everyone can use counseling at some time during their lives. Sharing your problems with friends and taking their advice is not counseling. Common reasons for contacting a counselor include depression, dissatisfying personal relationships, fears, worries, family conflict and anxiety for employees. Q. How does counseling help? A. Counseling helps most people take steps which will enable them to a) identify what is going wrong; b) reduce discomfort; c) uncover important aspects of their inner personality; d) discover new ways to cope; e) evaluate what can be changed; and f) form meaningful and supportive relationships. Q. What can I expect from my counselor? A. Expect an understanding, warm, caring person who is also a capable, well-trained professional. Expect your counselor to work with you in defining your problems, finding ways to "work through" to solutions and to provide clinical feedback, direction and encouragement. Q. How long does counseling take? A. Anticipate 3-5 sessions. Depending on the nature of the problem, you may need more or less time. We use brief therapy with employees. Q. What if I've tried counseling before? A. Many people enter counseling at different times in their lives for different needs. In cases where counseling has not been successful before, working with a new therapist may help provide a clearer picture of what is wrong. Also, with time, clients change and mature and become more ready to "get down to business." Q. How do I know what I need? A. (Step 1) An assessment of the problem with recommendations for treatment or referral. (Step 2) Implementation of the treatment plan. In this phase, patients experience general improvement not only in the employments area of their lives, but in themselves and their family relationships. (Step 3) An assessment of the improvements made and re-evaluation on the plan. |
